Well, most of you know of my abhorrence for anything apple, and I have no iTunes anywhere, so I don't think I want an actual iPod. Anyone have any thoughts on how I go about acquiring something to play music at me at the gym ( Read more... )

Well, being as I work at a Walgreens, I can tell you they have some really cheap mp3 type players that hold about 25+ songs, depending on what size you get and are perfect for like a working out playlist, if you aren't trying to store all of your music in one place. They are generally by the photo department, for reference.

Yeah, what kind of size/capacity are you looking for? And what kind of price range?

well, if you want to go for quality... these are better than sex: http://www.iriveramerica.com/
... but they don't get very big...

I think if you want something in the ~20 gig range, you might as well get an ipod... but you're not going to listen to more than 4 gigs of music in a day... and it takes all of 2 seconds to switch out some music when you want something different

But, obviously this depends on your prefferences

I've been thinking about a Zune. They're 30GB, come in different colors, and no apple products/software needed :)

Can get it in as low as the low 100s (depending on where you get it...I think walmart's around 99?), which I don't think it's too bad (ipod's more expensive), considering Zunes can also connect to each other so you can share music/video/pictures with friends (like in a bluetooth sort of way), and it has a built in fm radio, for those times when your own music just doesn't cut it.

I really want to get one of these.....

I've heard Zunes work okay... they're in the reliability range of the ipod

is that bad?

Besides the being made by apple thing, I don't know that much about iPods either.

well, iPods have a reputation for having batteries that die...

and they're not really reliable... Chris's randomly breaks down occasionally and he just has to wait a few weeks for it to decide it wants to work again...

Someone else I know's ipod mysteriously is super-quiet for no apparent reason...
