*sighs* I hate to make this post. I never thought I'd have to make this post. I thought people would be intelligent enough not to hotlink images... however after checking my domain's raw access logs after a letter from my ISP, I have to say this

That sucks.

Umm, there are things you can get to make any hotlinked images a red X or "do not steal" type image, which puts the kybosh on people hotlinking. It stops you hotlinking too though. Just a thought.

Thanks for the thought. I'm just enjoying myself parading around to various BBs and nicely asking people to take them down. Don't know if it will do any good.

I don't see why it would get much worse... the LOTR craze should die down soon... I guess it's just 'cause it's a big month for us fans. :)

I don't know if you have this option, but on my domain thingy you can disable hotlinking for everyplace *except* certain URLs. I haven't tried it out, though, so I'm not sure if you can do it.

I'm not *over* just getting close, so since it's the end of "crazy month," I'm just brushing it off.

If it happens again next month, I'll really get worried and do more than just post a little notice.

I don't really have any suggestions to rectify your problem, but it really sucks that this would happen, especially when you've been so generous with your beautiful icons. :/ It's not that difficult to just save the icon to your hard drive and upload it yourself... I don't get why people would hotlink them.

I guess it's just easier when you need an avatar for a bulletin board and you don't know anyting about hosting space.

After looking at the logs, I'm finding about 80% of the board accesses are from one person. o.O So I just emailed him/her. Hopefully that'll kill that.

Just wanted to reitterate (sp?) what merky said... There is a way to disable hotlinking on all site except for on urls you specify..
