I'm-a disagree with you on that last one, hon. A single white attractive female by herself at night in the Tenderloin is a little iffy, particularly when she's an out-of-towner and consulting the street signs. Amy, I think you'll enjoy it more, and have an added degree of security, if you bring a friend. And hey, good on you for going!

I'm not staying beyond iWPS. And cannot give you any good advise about the terrain. But I hope to meet you in person before coming home.
