So, this message is for a previous post, but I didn't want you to miss it so I replied to this post instead of the one that this is really a response to. (This is Cammy, by the way.)
You should, without question, read "The God of Small Things". Here's why: 1) It's one of my favorite books of all time. I just read it for the second time this week, and love it even more now. 2) Not only does it take place in India, it takes place in the same state and district that I'm living in! (state=Kerala, district=Kottayam) And it mentions places I've been to. And the descriptions describe what I see every day! Like a slice of my life. 3) It's seriously an amazing book. It won the Booker Prize and everything. So critics agree. And it's written in this great style, edgy but still endearing. And it breaks your heart and makes it full, all at the same time.
