Franziska had miscalculated the time it would take her to travel Miles’s apartment, and to her dissatisfaction, she had reached the landing with two minutes to spare. As a result, she loitered at the end of the hallway, pacing up and down as she watched the digital minutes of her phone’s display slowly count down. 6:59. She started to walk towards the door, and almost considered knocking, but decided against it. The last minute seemed like an eternity. She looked down at her hands - she had brought very little with her, just a small bag and her whip, of course - then at the door (which, strangely enough, looked exactly as it had fifteen seconds ago), then she turned around and looked behind her all before glancing at her phone again.
…It was still 6:59. Blasted number. She knew she could simply knock now, but something was holding her back - she tried to assure herself it was that if she arrived early, she could not be ensured promptness on his part. She hardly wanted to wait like some forgotten fool in front of his door as he ambled all the way from the other side of his apartment. Another issue was pride, but she quickly dismissed that as ridiculous. After all, it was not her fault she had arrived here early. Perhaps she was simply used to the streets back home being far more congested. She ducked away from the door, brushing a strand of errant hair behind her ear. How much longer would she have to wait?
The phone’s display flickered into seven o’clock at just that moment and she smirked. Not any longer at all, it seemed. She quickly made her way to the door once more and knocked upon it as loudly as she could; it would not do to have her arrival go unnoticed, of course.
