When: Shortly after finding Otacon's body in the very early morning of the 17th of September
Where: The Church of Jonova
Summary: Liquid has snapped a little and can't face his family, Kadaj does not approve of mopeyquid.

The sun had not yet risen. It seemed that Liquid had been walking for a long, long time, but the sun still remained sunken beneath the horizon. Perhaps it was hiding its face out of shame, unwilling to look upon the devastation that had been Otacon. He doubted it, but thinking of things like that was a welcome distraction. It took his mind away from the sight of Otacon, broken and lifeless on the floor. Even if the dead came back, he knew he'd never forgive himself for failing to protect the man.
It's your fault.
Even if it wasn't true, he blamed himself. He should have known Otacon wasn't home, should have gone looking for him, called him, something.
Failure.
You can't help anyone.
Not even yourself.
Why should he be different?
His thoughts kept playing in his head, over and over, those same wretched words-
-inferior-
-failure-
-weak-
He didn't know where he was going, just that he couldn't face home, not yet. Father was gone, Otacon was gone, and he didn't have it in him to deal with Miller or Snake right then. Perhaps he should have gone to Ocelot, but he didn't want the man to see that side of him. For the moment, the mask had frayed and his inner turmoil was visible in every line of his body. It was just too much.
The church stood in front of him.
How long had he been walking, to reach this place? He hadn't even thought of it, hadn't seen it rising up until it was right there. He should have walked right past, but something in him made him stop. Liquid didn't have the patience to deal with Kadaj's shit right now - but maybe it was what he needed. A distraction, something else to focus on.
He closed his eyes, composed himself with a sigh and approached the doors, lifting a hand to knock at them loudly.
