Who: Phibrizzo, Black Mask, possibly HK-47 later When: Morning Where: Near a grocery store Summary: Phibrizzo has become HK-47's master. Roman disapproves. Warning: PG-13 for unhappy Roman
HK-47 paused a moment, before raising his rifle, leveling it at Roman, aiming like he was going to blow his skull-like head off, before pulling the trigger. The shot, however, was not aimed at his head at all, but at a darkness monster that thought they could sneak up behind them. There was a loud splurch! sound as the thing's head exploded into chunks, before the body hit the ground.
"Query: Is there a specific demonstration you had in mind?" HK asked as he lowered his weapon.
"Well...if Roman's in a hurry, we'll set a time limit and you kill as many darkness monsters as you can in that time," said Phibrizzo. After watching HK-47, he was fairly sure that the droid would kill enough to be suitably impressive. He certainly had skill, and that weapon was pleasantly destructive. Phibrizzo had no regrets about becoming HK-47's master.
Remembering his manners, he glanced up at Roman.
"Unless you've got something in mind that you want HK-47 to do."
Roman jumped at the initial shot fired by the droid. He didn't appreciate the lack of warning; his annoyance briefly spiked into a burst of rage before he calmed himself, although outwardly, he appeared nonchalant, save another deep drag on the cigarette.
"Just show me Hk-47 is as quick and efficient as I was told."
Roman was such a wonderful food source. Phibrizzo had to admit to himself that part of the reason he was willing to even talk about a paid arrangement with Roman instead of keeping HK-47 to himself was so that he could feed off of that buffet of negative emotion. The other part was the more practical and obvious. Roman had money. HK-47's upkeep would require money.
"Hmm...HK-47, kill as many darkness monsters as you can in five minutes. That should be enough for a quick demonstration. We can count the bodies after."
HK-47 stepped forward, past Roman, his weapon held up in preparation to follow his orders. He looked about, before finally coming to a stop, satisfied with his position. There was a blink of a pause as HK's processors started up, increasing his accuracy ratio to maximum, activating his combat protocols and other necessary functions. Once complete, his weapon came down as he started shooting, a darkness monster down the alley letting out a death cry a moment later.
One.
HK turned and shifted in place, taking care of the immediate area first, before starting down the street for more.
Phibrizzo kept track of the time on his cartoonish skull-shaped NV. He'd be able to get the gist of Roman's reactions to HK-47 just by standing near him - which was probably more helpful than watching his facial expressions anyhow. He was also good at controlling his body language so that he didn't betray what sort of person he really was. Admirable, really. Phibrizzo looked forward to doing business with him, though he'd have to be cautious about how he did so.
One minute had passed so far, and HK-47 was already doing well. The tiny Hellmaster sensed the deaths as they happened - as temporary as death could be in this place, the darkness monsters would remain dead until tomorrow night.
After only one minute, Black Mask had seen enough. He had to admit: he was surprised the rusty droid performed as well as it did. It would do nicely if ever decided to use its services.
He unfolded his arms and looked down at Phibrizzo, taking a final pull on the cigarette.
"He'll do. I don't need him at the moment, but I'll contact you if I have any jobs."
He flicked the cigarette to the gutter and prepared to stalk off.
HK glanced back slightly, still firing away. He hadn't yet received the order to stop, so he wouldn't until the five minutes were up. Still, there was a little spark of pleasure in his circuits; but of course, any meatbag in their right mind would be impressed with his programming. He had just met so few of them that could actually appreciate it.
Phibrizzo nodded up at Roman. "Okay. Just contact me on my NV and then we can meet."
Meeting was infinitely preferable to discussing business on the little devices, and not just because of the free meal it provided him. Phibrizzo had learned that it was entirely too easy to track conversations on the NVs, and that was with his limited grasp of technology. Someone who really knew what they were doing could probably find out more.
He hoped there would be work for HK-47 soon. That would take care of any upkeep. Rent was less of a priority since neither the tiny hellmaster nor the droid really needed to worry about the darkness monsters. He supposed it would be important to keep HK-47 out of the rain, though. Phibrizzo turned his attention back to the mechanical assassin.
"You can stop now, HK-47," he said. "But if you want to keep going, you have my permission."
HK-47's gun quieted; as much as he enjoyed killing, he wanted much more of a challenge. Hopefully between his tiny master and the meatless one, he would have much more of a challenge shortly.
"Query: Not that I do not appreciate the gesture, tiny master, I must ask when more challenging quarry will be available?"
He had to appreciate HK-47's enthusiasm and dedication to his purpose. It brought a smile to Phibrizzo's face.
"The monsters you killed haven't been taken away by the others yet," he said thoughtfully. That was probably due to HK-47 taking out any monsters that came near him. He was such an efficient killing machine. So few people could appreciate a skilled professional in this trade.
"For now, I can revive and control them. That way, they won't stay down until you completely destroy them. We could go looking for some of the really dangerous monsters that are rarer, too. As for residents of Siren's Port...well, that will have to wait until either Roman contacts us, or someone that I don't want knowing finds out that I'm not human. At least until I've decided what I want to do with some of the people who run this city."

"Statement: As you wish, meatless one," HK replied, before he turned to Phibrizzo. "Query: Your orders, master?"
