[It's with some trepidation that Franziska approaches Miles at the conclusion of the meeting; she almost wants to retreat now while she still has the opportunity to, but not only would that be breaking a promise, it feels weak. After all, she has to prove to him that she's making the right decision, that she can take care of herself -- at the same time, however, she hates that she feels so obligated. She still considers this conversation unnecessary, in a way.

She approaches him quietly; her whip is nowhere in sight and the forearm of her dominant hand is bandaged up - a reasonable excuse for anyone who doesn't know she can whip with both hands, but not one that will work on Miles Edgeworth. No, he won't be as easily fooled.]

Miles. You wanted to talk.

That was not my intention.

[At then, she cannot quite bite it back:]

At least I did more than leave a note.

[He visibly flinches, but his voice is heated.]

Is that what it was, then? Revenge?

[She scowls in return.]

Are you honestly accusing me of something so petty? If you want the honest truth, fine -- I was not thinking of you, nor any other specific person when I made my decision. I apologize if you take issue with me going about my business it what is simply the most efficient manner possible.

And efficiency was what was called for in this decision? Efficiency was the key quality necessary to toss aside everything your life had been until this point?

[Strangely enough, despite his words, Franziska's scowl softens somewhat.]

Do you think that's healthy, dedicating your entire life to one goal to the extent of pushing aside everything else?

[He notices that softening; he frowns deeper in confusion.]

It depends on the goal.

[She ignores that stipulation and continues onwards:]

It's not.

[He finds himself at a loss. This wasn't the tack he was expecting her to take.]

And what of it?

I decided that I didn't want to it any longer. I can't put it any more simply than that.

It wasn't working out anyway.

[He scowls and walks for a very long time, saying nothing. When, at long last, he does speak, he has only two words:]

All right.

[She watches him carefully throughout the silence, not speaking until he has:]

You're disappointed, aren't you? I'll have you know -- I'm not running away. Yet, at the same time, I'm not content with simply going along with the status quo, especially if it isn't working out.

I'm moving forwards, and you know -- [she lifts her chin up obstinately] -- I don't care if you follow me or not. I don't really expect you to.

[At that he stops and turns to her.]

Of course I'm not disappointed. Franziska, you could - cast aside all of your education and become an artist, and I'd still... [He shakes his head.] You'd still be my sister.

[At that, she averts her gaze, growing defensive again. Quietly, she replies:]

You were disappointed last time.

You returned my whip to me.

I'm sorry I couldn't keep my promise.
