If I go crazy, will you still call me 'Superman'?

May 14, 2011 15:22

Who: Protosuperman isitablurred  and That Grouchy Manbat kingofrooks
When: Friday May 13th
Where: Mostly sector 4, definitely an alleyway and the baseball diamond
Summary: A hastily put together plan to go after SERO's new superrock goes awry. Of course it goes awry.
Warnings: Violence, violence and violence. Blood and gore likely. And Batman no doubt losing his temper. Also warnings for action tags that look like prose. This could get out of hand.

[ There's one thing Clark has to say about his plan to sear mysterious symbols on walls--it makes arranging a meeting place a lot easier. And while it means they have to double back to the baseball diamond, it means he can just say 'Meet me in the alley' and it makes sense. In a way, it makes this feel more like home, even though the streets are so different, even though there's nobody he knows, because there's places which are becoming familiar. But it's no big deal, getting used to another city, or it wouldn't be if all the signs didn't point to his being stuck here for at least a year, if not longer.

Clark stands in the alley as dusk falls with his back to the wall. He's learnt that there are things out here that make no sound, and they can creep up on him even with superhearing. Batman isn't one of these things, but he's close--he has ways of blending right into the Darkness, and it takes all his attention to even note his approach, let alone pick him out of the shadow.

But there's no streetlights here. That's why he chose it.

He'll be along soon, and then they can get started. Every moment, knowing that kryptonite is sitting in some lab somewhere makes him nervous. Worse than that...it would be blue, and the thought of being powerless here is more troubling than it's ever been. Being human has always been such an aspiration for him, but here it would be a curse. Even now there were monsters stirring out in the Darkness, attracted by his presence, remembering him--definitely a curse. They seemed particularly active tonight, excited, perhaps frenzied by bloodlust, and Clark took it as foreboding. Honestly, he wouldn't have believed in any of this Friday the 13th stuff if not for the network today, but now? Now it's making him nervous.

So he tenses, holding his ground, and hopes the Batman gets here soon. ]
