[Roxas is supposed to meet Ven in the woods in a couple of hours, but Kahve's covered, and he can't sit still. Every time he finds himself idle, heavy thoughts fill his minds. Wondering whether Terra's still aware and trapped in his own body. Wondering whether that was true when it happened before, outside this world. Wondering what happens if they fail.

Except they can't. They won't. Xehanort can't be allowed to spread further darkness across this world, and they can't lose a friend.

He can tell someone else is at the training spot before he sees them, and when he does, it's no surprise that it's Riku.]

Hey. Been out here long?

Maybe.

[Roxas doubts it, though. Terra may consider himself permanently tainted by the darkness, but he sees a lot of light in him still. He doesn't believe he'd do that to Riku.]

That's exactly right.

[He lifts his Keyblades again and shifts into a better stance.]

He's going to regret what he's done.

Of course he will.

[Xehanort has to be stopped. All of him, every piece of him. He can't exist here any longer in any way, shape, or form. And if that means that both Riku and Terra need to be destroyed, then so be it.

He wasn't ready when Terra attacked him. He knew he had to protect the others. But with Sora in the city now, he's ready to go down fighting if that's what it takes.]

You need to be ready for any Darkness magic he throws at you, Roxas. You, Sora, and Ven are the Light. He'll try to snuff out anything you have.

[Roxas nods sharply. It's odd to think of any Nobody being part of the Light, but he can't deny the connection. It's always been there.]

I'll be ready. They're not going to catch me off-guard again.

There's too much on the line now.

There are worse things than to be caught off guard, Roxas.

[He fixes him with a long stare.]

He can just as easily pummel you repeatedly with the Darkness until you can't feel anything from your head to your toes. You'll feel empty. You won't be able to move. And he can take everything from you, then.

I know there are.

[He answers the stare with a measured one of his own. He's taking this seriously.]

Got any tips on defending against the dark?

Just one.

[Riku summons his own dark, holding it up in his hand. He slides into stance.]

Never stop fighting. Use your Light as your shield and get away from it as fast as possible. You have speed on your side, Roxas. Use it to your advantage.

[Roxas matches him stance for stance. No light appears, but his tends to be all or nothing. It's still there, ready to be called forth.]

Got it.

Beyond all of that...you need to train with everyone here. You don't know who you'll be fighting beside and every second you waste talking to them while you fight is just going to be used against you.

You need to work with your partner. You need to know how they're going to move and attack.

[Sora and he had been separated for two years, almost, and they still fought side-by-side as though they were extensions of each other.]

And always fight like you're the only one able to. Don't wait for the other person to work with you.

Right.

[He doesn't like the sound of that last part, even if he knows it's right. Never leave a friend behind or down-but Xehanort must be stopped.

He squeezes his Keyblades in tight grips.]

Ready to give it a go?

Good.

[The problem is that relying too much on partners is liable to get people killed. If Sora goes down, Riku is determined to fight on his own and protect his friend. If Joe goes down, Roxas needs to be prepared to keep swinging until the other boy gets back up.]

Yeah.

[And then he's shooting Dark Firaga at the boy and rushing forward, pulling his Keyblade free.]

[No need for words now. Roxas charges forward just as speedily, unwilling to end up on the defensive right off the bat. He swipes through the dark blast with Oblivion, dissipating enough of it to move through it, ready to go Keyblade to Keyblade.]

[Good. Roxas is a good fighter, Riku knows, and the boy can easily stand up to any opponent who faces him. Roxas' greatest weakness, though, is one that's far too easily exploitable.

Riku throws himself forward and strikes at him, turning to the side already to let Roxas go past him.]

[He manages to block the strike, but then Riku's gone-or rather, he is, momentum carrying him past the point he can strike back.

He skids to a stop and pivots, mindful that Riku could be on him in a heartbeat. But the blow doesn't come, so he keeps moving, ready for the next attack.]

[Riku doesn't take the first strike, instead going past him as well. He jams his foot into the grass and uses it to push himself off and back, heading straight for the boy. He strikes out with his key. In the other hand, he prepares another Darkness attack.]

[Their blades clash loudly, the impact felt all the way up to his shoulder. Roxas approves; it's not that he ever doubted it, but it's nice to know Riku is strong. They'll all need as much strength as possible soon.

In less than a second, he moves to attack with his second Keyblade-stillness is his enemy in battle. The gathered darkness escapes his gaze, blocked from sight by Riku's body.]
