Sector 4 midmorning? GROCERY STORE

Fourth of July. They may be in Canada, but if he had anything to say about it, they were going to have a cook out, and grilled food, and all those other things. They were Americans, and they were gonna act like 'em

Yeah, Kevin was sure. Let all of them face it. He'd keep his head down and just be quiet about things.

Kevin was inspecting the bread - he really needs to learn to make his own - when the question was asked. He glanced over his shoulder. "Maybe, don' think I caught ya name."

"I'm Genesis Rhapsodos. And you are...?"

He extended his hand to shake.

Kevin glanced at the hand before extending his own glove covered hand. "M'name's Kevin Ford, sir. It's right nice t'meet ya."

It was still hard for him to touch someone so casually, though he managed it. "an' I think we did. First day ya was here."

Genesis notices the hesitation, but doesn't say much about it. He gives the boy's hand a firm shake before pulling away.

"Ah, yes... your name is familiar. Now I know where I've met you. Over the network."

"That'd be it, sir." Kevin turned away and pulled the bread off the shelf. "Ya manage to settle in alrigh'?"

Kevin was asking to be polite. He didn't know anything else to say.

"I have. And I suppose you did as well? You seem to feel familiar with how this place works. This still feels new to be."

Kevin smiled a tiny bit. "Ain't m'first time on m'own. Jus' a different dimension s'all." He finished his shopping with buns. They already had chips and all that around the house. "Place works almost like back home."

[redpeacock]

"I see... that is interesting. At least there is something familiar here for you. This place is completely new to me. Although perhaps I am no stranger to monsters."

[southernreaper]

"No stranger t'monsters?" Kevin asked curiously, still poking a few things as he wandered toward the checkout. He had food to go cook.

"My world is full of them-- beast you need to take down as you travel. Moving from place to place is often difficult because of them."

[southernreaper]

Kevin cocked his head to the side, more curious than anything. "Take it people don't move between the cities much?" Because that's what made sense to him.

Genesis shook his head. "No. Not really. Not unless they're brave enough or have the skills to defend themselves."

"Huh. Seems weird. M'dad was from Mississippi -" He broke off. "He came from a different place than I was raised in."

"Well, there were ways to transport people from one place to the other without encountering the monsters-- but still it's a difficult task to venture away from home for some people."
