Summary: Joker's controller locks up, the Darkness goes berserk
Warnings: Violence, gore, monster shenanigans and the Joker
Joker turned away with a dark giggle. "Low blow to Chateau Below," he chirped to nobody in particular. Behind him there were screams as people tried to barricade the cellar door that led into the basement-based all night restaurant . He glanced over his shoulder and looked down the stairs in time to see a waiter stumble backwards and land with a crack in a funny position.
"What do you want?" demanded a voice. It was female but he didn't bother to acknowledge it. Why did he need to want something? He just did things. It was destruction. It was hilarious...right?
Joker shook his head and stepped out on to the sidewalk, pushing down the button on the Man-Bat controller and moments later shrieks, whoops and howls reverberated down the street in a vile crescendo. People wailed as they tried to scramble for safety anywhere they could in the ruins of Chateau Below. Some even tried to break into the houses of sleeping families in their panic. Joker was certain the Seeping Darkness was grateful for the opportunity. Maybe it would give him a medal. That would be funny. Joker, Clown Prince of Crime, Champion of the Darkness.
Once the howl of the monsters was close enough, Joker pressed the button again.
Nothing happened.
He pressed a second time and still nothing happened. The button remained lit, stuck in position.
When he heard something smash its way through a trashcan behind him, he felt his heart drop into his spats and he broke into a run, racing away down the streets like a Marathon runner.
