Fangtasia during a weekend night was always terribly crowded. Matches had been guarding at the door for hours, watching and taking note of the crowds. There were the usual crowd of vampire fetishisers and the vampires themselves, and Matches kept an eye out for a few of the usual troublemakers. There were more and more vampires trickling in from the Sanguinarian Society; vampires who abandoned their pride in order for fresh blood and the enticing siren call of Eric Northman's creed; of his pride in being a vampire.
There were news of a new drug circulating as well. It came up far before the news feed reported it, and Matches was already keeping an eye and a ear out. There were bits and pieces of conversations that mentioned it; that said that the drug, at its best, would send its taker into a euphoria that exceeded even the exhilaration of a vampire's 'kiss'.
What was most interesting was how certain people seemed to be speaking of the drug as if it was sentient. That it would 'choose' people, and only the 'chosen' would be sent into that euphoria. Those who didn't, those who did not pass the 'test', would have horrific nightmares and hallucinations. It was supposedly picking up especially by the thrillseekers.
That was why Matches wasn't surprised at all to be called by Eric to the basement. He was the informant, after all; paid a 'special price' every month for every interesting piece of information he brought the other man. Eric wasn't pleased at the new drug, of course not - it was a competition for his own.
Matches leaned against the door of the basement, backlit by the dim, flashing lights of the club.
"Ya wanta see me, boss?"
