The Core reminds me of what is known in my world as a Consciousness Orb. It has the capability of sending a person great distances. Distortions were caused by said Orb ... created what most would call monsters, but we call Meta-Beings. Humans that had become twisted. They lost their heart and souls.
[ An awkward pause. Well ... there were coincidences, sure, but Ella wasn't going to believe that the world was going to end anytime soon. ]
That's ... eerie that it's so similar. What you've told me, and what I know of the Port, and the Core ...well yes, it does seem familiar. There are even rumors that if it's tampered with, the Core would explode.
Forgive me if I'm being out of line, but ... ... is.. that what happened on your world?
The creator was found. The creator of the Consciousness Orbs. People wished to give said being human form ... this is what caused the world to erupt. The Blaze happened. Everything became twisted. Everyone became twisted. While some retained their consciousness, their very being was forever altered.
It was the fault of one. It was the fault of many. I tried to stop it, but ... it may happen once more in ten days.
Still, I will not rule out of the possibility that disrupting the Core needlessly will cause an eruption of distortions, as well, if the creator is not found in that allotted time.
Why did they want to give the creator human form? Ah - sorry, you ... probably don't know that. Hard to put reason to something like that, I imagine. Still... [ She rests her arms against her legs, thoughtful. ]
It's... obviously something I'd like to avoid. Despite the troubles from the companies, and some other people in this place... I've met some really great people here. It makes the place bearable.
I wonder who even created the Core. [ HRM. Oh well. ]
So you said you were going to wait for the end peacefully, if it happens? How would you define that?
No, I know the reason. They wished to allow the creator to speak human words. To tell them what it is that it was doing. To let its will be heard.
[He nods slightly as he listens to her speak. While he knows littler as to what it is that she is saying as a newcomer, he still can understand some of those sentiments.]
I suppose you didn't have priests or priestesses in your world then?
[ Thoughtful. ]
Well yeah, but what are you going to do to live as a normal man? Spend the day in the forest, socialize, [ Break a law ] read all the books in the library...?
We did. I actually, if you wish to believe it, was the head of the religious order back in my world.
[A slight pause.]
Being within the forest is becoming in tune with nature and while normal men do so, I wish to live among the people. I have been unable to see or touch anything with my own eyes for a long while. I wish to experience what it is to be in a city once more. Eat the food from the shops, talk with the people face-to-face. To simply do what most take for granted ...
I don't see why I shouldn't believe it. [ He hasn't given her a reason not to, anyway. ] But the creator didn't speak to you or any of the priests during prayer?
It must give you a whole new appreciation for the things that we normally take for granted.
No. The Absolute God had no real words that could be understood. No one knew what it was thinking and so ... the Koriel split from the order which I led. This drove the Absolute God insane. To give a being that is beyond comprehension human form ... it is only natural that madness would result.
It does. For example, the sky. Do you take the time to admire it? The shades that it has?
You'll have to excuse me- it's a little difficult to comprehend a God in human form. It's .. hard enough to come to terms that there are things as angels on the mortal plane, really. But ... yeah, I can definitely see why a God might go mad if something like that were to happen. Especially against its will.
Actually, yes, I do. Every chance I get. Back home we don't have nearly half the things that they do here - it's so much more closed in than home is. I'm used to the wide open spaces of the country my home was in. I miss being able to sit outside and watch the stars. Do that here, and you're liable to get chewed on.
Unfortunate. I would like to see the stars as much as I would like to see the sky during the day. But to be able to see it at all is a blessing. I am glad that you understand my sentiments a little when taking joy in things that most cannot understand.
It seems that the more advanced some people have become in this era, the less they appreciate the little things. But - not everyone is like that.
[ ... actually, she's wondering if she can make part of her roof glass so she can see the stars (and the monsters running overhead) without losing any security in the house. ]

This sounds familiar to you, too, I presume.

If everyone was, I'd worry for the world.
