[The screen flickers on to reveal the face of a friendly old man. He seems to be relatively calm about everything all things considered. He had informed himself as best as possible by asking questions of the greeter, but it seemed to him that asking a wider audience would be beneficial. Strangers were generally such interesting people to meet. He ( Read more... )

Iroh? Are you related to young woman named Azula?

She was afraid to eat things because she thought people would poison her.

[He sighs, Azula had made an impression that was for sure]

No one tried to poison her, she believed that everyone was out to get her the last I had heard. I understand that you cared for her, and wished to help, and I am glad you did. I would be glad to tell you what she did not.

I don't know about how stories go in the fire nation. But in most worlds, when a princess winds up in any dungeon? That's a bad thing.

[He looks at the individual straight in the eye]

In most stories the princess doesn't try to kill other members of her family.

Edgeworth said something wasn't right with her.

Yes, she thought of people as pawns in a game, rather then individuals. Her only exception may have been her father, who was of a similar mind and temperament to her. When she discovered that she was not truly cared for by her father, she could not hold herself together.

How can you say that about someone in your family?

The fact they are family does not change the type of person they are. Someone who commits a crime is still a criminal, regardless of who they are related to.

[He sighs softly]

I tried to be a positive influence on Azula, but she did not care to listen.

She went back to that place. To a dungeon. I don't see how that helps anything.

[He pauses and ponders this for a moment before replying calmly]

I agree that it is not an ideal situation... At the very least, she has access to food and water, and is protected from the outside. I hope eventually that her mind can be healed, and her views can be changed. She has access to the best healers available in our world, and she is not being treated poorly. Until she recovers, she is a danger to herself and others.

[He takes a deep breath]

It gives me no pleasure to say this about my niece, but I cannot see any other way.

I just wish I could have helped her more.

[He smiles sadly]

A hand given to help someone up must be grasped by the one who fell. Do not blame yourself for being unable to help her. I am certain that she will eventually seek the help she needs.

[Though with her pride, it may take a number of years]
