[This is a living-room/study of very modernist sensibilities, and the small, younger man in scrubs who is seated in the egg chair with his NV propped up seems a bit- ...there's something off, if you have a fair, close read on body language. There's something slightly strained, or tired, or just resigned.

But Daedalus has contained himself once more ( Read more... )

With the diversity of abilities present, would blood donations be wise?

They're still done here. But I suppose I need to catch you up to speed on Siren's Port's classification system.

That would be wise. I take it then that there is no worry of abilities being passed through transfusions? [ It was how she'd become an abnormal - through the blood... it was how so many others had also. It didn't make her like the idea any more, just for safety sake ]

The ones which can are matched to compatible patients- or labelled with the appropriate caveats, that it may come with powers complications.

It is a hassle, but the people down at the blood bank have made it their business to sort wisely for years?

Has this been happening for years, with the Core?

I suppose that is one way to ensure safety, although I doubt that it is entirely effective. Have there been any reports of complications post transfusion?

From what I've been told, denizens of the island have either been imported here, as too much trouble for the outside world, or have arrived here as criminals, prisoners, entrepreneurs of science...and then mutated, under the core's influence.

You should speak with Dr. Xavier. He's been my leading expert, when it comes to latent human mutations.

Oh, of course. There are complications left and right, in these hospitals. While we strive to keep good records, there's only so many standard procedures we can keep, with so much variance in the population. Our patients understand this, and before they submit themselves we ask that they be very thorough and open about special needs. It's quite a challenge!

SERO hospital is better for custom-tailoring treatments, in fact, because they're willing to do the extra research.

Then there would be no one natively here? That is particularly surprising.

I'll be sure to do that, thank you.

I can only imagine why. [ She doesn't imagine good things. She's still undecided on both SERO and AGI but there's nothing too good either ] At least with forewarning complications can be limited. [ Until you get an odd and rare situation or a mutation of something normal ]

The island was settled only within the past century.

Complications...can be minimized with clear attention, and patient communication.

Settled? That would imply that it came from somewhere else originally.

Hopefully all circumstances allow such communication.

The core was discovered here, I believe. Most think it is extra-terrestrial technology?

That's why I encourage newcomers to at the very least come forward for a first screening check-up, so that we have some medical record on file, able to transfer to a hospital in the case of an emergency as soon as they are identified. That's one of the reasons we've set up the clinic.

Or perhaps ancient. There are many civilisations and even former advancements that many would thing are alien but are simply from a former age - and more advanced at that.

That could also be true- but I couldn't say either way for certain.

If we were able to get closer to it perhaps we may be able to know.

Careful, those ambitions won't be well met by the city order.

I've dealt with those with similar views before.

Who aren't afraid to use any means necessary to enforce them?
