[Sitting in his usual spot on his sofa, having just come in the door from work. There's three cups of coffee at his side, and Mir the cat is curled up alongside his lap. There is a small purple vase absolutely stuffed with lilies and other flowers.]
Thanks to whoever left the bouquet on my desk this morning. It's kind of you, though I shouldn't be accepting gifts for just doing my job.
Wilkes was guilty, and that was the simple truth. All I did was point it out.

Incidentally, I'm also not any sort of hero or anti-AGI crusader, though I am flattered by the voicemails and emails. Showing up for work every day doesn't make somebody heroic. Save it for the cops, for the investigators, and for the people with the courage to stand up in the darkness and testify against wrongs, no matter who may be committing them.
