There are three Archangels on the island that I know of. Back home, I believed in God because there were so many dark things that faith brought me hope - and a defense against the dark things, sometimes.

Here, I still believe God exists. And not just because there are three Angels to tell me He does.

I suppose it could be-- and it's protected you before?

In my world, vampires are real. They didn't think what I had was a religious symbol, because it doesn't look like one. But it serves the same purpose. Unfortunately, they know that now.

I'm glad they were wrong about it-- the vampires, that is-- and that it could keep you safe.

So was I, at the time. They know about it now though.

So it can't keep you safe anymore?

It can, but it isn't a surprise to them. They know to avoid it now.

What kind of protection does it offer? It seems a little odd that you couldn't surprise them with it again somehow.

Where I'm from, vampires cannot stand items of faith. It burns them. Now that they know I wear it, they ask that I remove it before I step into their home.
