That's a long time t' be here. [ he tosses the ball for dog, watching him chase it before glancing back at the nv again with a grin. ] Do you like it here? There a lot of stuff t' do?

Sadly, yes, although I've heard others have been here longer.

[ She paused, thinking carefully before answering ] There are positives and negatives to being here, as with anywhere you may go.

I've never really been out of Tadfield. [ unless, of course, one counts being 'born' in hell and all that entails.

he leans in closer, gaze brightening excitedly. ] Are there really monsters?

Tadfield? [ Her voice brightens a little at the mention of it - she'd been there once ]

There are, yes, but they're unlike those from stories. [ Or movies - all those legends... some were slightly true ]

[ he tilts his head, expression turning puzzled. ]

What're they like, then?

[longaevus]

[ She wanted to be honest but in a way that wouldn't frighten him too terribly ] They're large creatures, ones that are only around when it becomes dark - there's a siren that sounds to let you know when the Darkness is falling. They're known as Darkness Monsters, extremely vicious and dangerous.

[ clearly, this boy is anything but scared if his beaming grin is any indication. ]

Brilliant! An' are there superheroes what go out an' fight 'em?

[longaevus]

[ That's not too worrying - boys will be boys - but she was still going to tread gently ]

Not superheroes per se, but everyone whom is brought here either has or is given an ability.

Like super-speed or x-ray vision or somethin'? [ he takes the ball from dog, and both of them move toward the edge of the baseball diamond. ] What's yours, Helen?

Some people do have those abilities, [ She's assuming, it isn't as if she's catalogued everything ] although others are a little more simplistic - more like an ability than a power, like my own.

A kind that would not help in a dangerous situation.

[ his expression goes solemn for several moments, but then he brightens again. ]
