What genius decided it was a good idea to put you in charge of children? Though if you need help deciphering pirate you might check with Xigbar. Or perhaps Luxord; I hear he got on quite well in Port Royal.
Er, that is, blimey, shiver me timbers, arr walk the plank and so on and so forth. [Well, it is in the spirit of the day. However though his terminology may be correct he's not speaking it with an accent, which makes it rather amusing.]
I have impeccable credentials. [he smirks] I also teach science, no less. I can just imagine the elders would be dismayed with that, if they knew. Well, it is irrelevant now that the school day is over, as long as it does not persist.
[also video btw derp]got_it_memorizdSeptember 20 2011, 03:58:35 UTC
Would those be the forged credentials or the ones that illuminate your PhD. in backstabbing and subterfuge? Nothing like teaching today's youth the really useful stuff.
[And then he arches one eyebrow.]
Is this a trick question? [Pause.] A trick question... matey?
[It's not hard to pick Marluxia out of a crowd. For that matter, it's pretty easy to recognize any of the Organization members from a distance provided they aren't wearing their hood. Axel is pretty confident no one ever mixed Xaldin or Saïx up with anybody else on the street. He's not really sure why he's doing this--he and Marluxia certainly didn't part on good terms--but something tells him that it's a good executive decision to take the other man up on his offer to join him. After all, it never hurts to re-forge an old alliance; even if the foundation's cracked and the beams are a little shaky, it's never a bad idea to have a spare.
[Sliding onto a barstool, leaving one between him and his old cohort, Axel plucks one of the swizzle-straws from a plastic cup on the bar counter and nibbles on the end. He casts Marluxia a sidelong glance coupled with a thin grin.]
[Action]petalsofdeathSeptember 20 2011, 22:42:57 UTC
[Marluxia glances up from his drink as the other Nobody takes a seat next to him, studying him carefully, as if trying to tease out the secrets of their time apart.]
It is becoming an increasingly common event, yes.
[He smiled wryly, flicking his head at the bartender.]
[Why Marluxia, who knew you were such a tease~? Axel clicks his tongue.] Shouldn't spend so much time drinking, Marluxia--what sort of example are you setting for the children?
[He glances at the bartender, then at Marluxia, then at Marluxia's drink before pursing his lips. Axel had never been much of a drinker. With his build, for one thing, it wasn't like he had much of a tolerance for such things, but mostly he just didn't like to be out of control of his faculties. It wouldn't do to spill all his secrets because he was sloshed, after all. He wondered if there wasn't more danger in this proposition than the average one, too. On one hand, Marluxia could have easily bribed the bartender to slip him a mickey (as opposed to a Mickey, that is). On the other, however, partaking in a friendly drink could be advantageous to the situation.
[A grin spreads neatly over his lips.]
Are you buying? I have yet to receive my first paycheck, you see...
[If Marluxia was going to drug him, he was at least going to make him shell out for it
[Action]petalsofdeathSeptember 20 2011, 23:28:16 UTC
Of course. I have a small advance from the school to live off of.
[He gestured to get the bartender's attention, before pointing to the redhead.]
Another, if you would.
[He eased back on his stool a bit, his boots hooked into the railing on the bottom of the bar.]
You did not go back to the Organization?
[He cast a sidelong glance to Axel, taking a sip of his drink, scarcely taking any into his mouth. He didn't have to prove anything regarding his alcoholic fortitude to Axel. No, he wanted to get him at ease, just so he could talk to him, to try to get more information, useful or not. It couldn't hurt to extend an olive branch, especially if Axel was no longer a member of the Organization.]
[Axel takes a moment to think about the question. It's a straightforward enough inquiry, but the answer is a bit more complicated. He didn't exactly go back to the Organization, but he didn't exactly not, either, and he's certainly confident both Xigbar and by extension Xemnas know better than to expect him to respect all the rules of engagement, as it were.
[Axel doesn't like Marluxia. Axel doesn't trust Marluxia. But Axel doesn't really have any reason to lie to him, not about this anyway, since it's likely the concerned parties knew from the beginning.]
Well, not... exactly. [He glances up when the bartender slides him a drink--ah, rum and cola? Marluxia, you're so predictable; you would drink something made mostly from sugar. He supposes he could have done worse. Pulling the swizzle from his mouth and swirling it into the drink, he lifts it again after a moment and puts it back in his mouth. Hm, not bad; it's been a while since he's bothered to drink.
[Wagging the swizzle at Marluxia, he purses his lips in thought.]You
( ... )
[Action]petalsofdeathSeptember 21 2011, 00:10:20 UTC
[Marluxia only smiles quietly at that. Didn't that just sound like him? And certainly, there were likely agendas that ran deeper than the face of his plans. Of course, it wouldn't be interesting to try to counter him if he knew everything about him. If he wanted that, he'd have asked Demyx out. ]
[He rested his jaw in his hand, watching the movements of the stick. He had a long day with the kids, so what if he needed a little sugar with his booze?]
Certainly, their friendly goodwill to all the citizens of Siren's Port sounds rather... false, to me. They took me back. I am surprised that they would not want you back, to keep their eyes on you.
[He glanced at his glass, watching the play of light in the liquor.]
Though it seems that Roxas is not a member of their ranks anymore.
[His eyes flicked back up to the redhead. Saix didn't take you back, VIII? He knew how close they had been.]
[Axel snorts and holds up his glass in something like a toast.] I have to admit, we're agreed there. There's definitely something fishy about it suddenly being Equal-Opportunity Non-Profit Organization XIII, that's for sure.
[Lowering the glass back to the counter Axel 'hmmm's thoughtfully a moment before giving Marluxia a slightly reproachful look.]
Come on now, XI, you're smarter than that--has the drink gone to your head already? Surely you're not that obtuse; why do you think I'm trying to keep an eye on things from the inside anyway? It's certainly not for my health and well-being. [It's no secret where Axel's priorities lie, really. Marluxia bit the dust before Axel's friendship with Roxas was really properly solidified, but he's sure it's not too difficult to put two and two together. Surely he's heard about it from someone by now.
[Twirling the swizzle in the drink again, he looks at him sidelong.]
I'm just being help up by red tape at the moment, I'm confident.
Re: [Action]petalsofdeathSeptember 21 2011, 00:42:51 UTC
[Honestly, he hadn't known that Axel and Roxas were close friends. He was only reporting what Roxas had sort of... shouted at him over the NV. His eyebrow quirked at the admission. Did Axel mean to reveal that he had a consideration outside of himself.]
Certainly the boy can take care of himself. After all, the others have not sought him out... Not yet, at least.
[Marluxia smiled darkly, eyes hooded.]
Did you contact them, or are you waiting for them to come find you?
[His smile was rich, as if he was hiding some secret, but he doubted it was really a secret at all. After all, would it really be a surprise that the Superior cast his judgment upon him?]
