[In the hesitance before he even opens his mouth to say a single word, Dr. Yumeno's eyes show that there is something uprooted and disturbed beneath the steady surface. He doesn't look directly at the camera, blinking too often, his breath too carefully measured. There's a detached hollowness, a strained and deliberately even pacing to his speech, ( Read more... )

[ Oh, she feels that pain, both for yourself and Jinx ]

If you need anything please do ask.

Right now I just need a counteractive agent for someone with innate case of 'unluckiness'. Ideas?

Unfortunately not. Perhaps only allow those to help that can be certain of their abilities?

We're taking special care, given the circumstances...but this isn't like anything I've worked with before.

It's an unusual circumstance to say the least. [ The whole place and everything - and everyone within it was ] Do you have an idea as to the types of abilities that you'd be looking for?

Luck-based. If there are powers that raise negative probability, then there must be something that counteracts it.

Control over them is significantly more difficult than with other based powers, however.

It's difficult to measure the degree of success, yes. Unless you happen to have a coin handy.

Although even then you cannot be certain of the result.

To be honest, it's very difficult to take superstitious notions about unexplained phenomena into account here.

So many of the doctors here are well-adjusted to it- just as you work with your anomalies back home, but I still find it difficult to do things so...improvisationaly, sometimes, putting faith in 'healing' and 'luck' and other things which defy everything I've ever known as concrete truths.

I understand your apprehensions - I'm a little weary regarding the use of healing powers, myself. [ There could be underlying effects to it, for example hurting the person who is doing the healing or it not fully working - only appearing so ] I wouldn't act, particularly not on something like this if you weren't completely certain of your decision.

I'd prefer to rely on trusted procedure as well... though the hospital does take healing 'donors' commonly enough. For Jinx, it might be necessary.

As long as you can remain confident in your decision, as well as the person who would be aiding Jinx, then it should be fine.

Inaction is not something I can live with on my conscience right now. She needs aggressive treatment of some kind, and the surgeons cannot help her fast enough without risk of furthering complications. This is a non-invasive solution.

But could you live with your conscience if your decision further harmed her?

....

We have to do something.

Right now if we take an invasive procedure, there's a much stronger chance of something going wrong. But she's lost too much blood already.
