I didn't know her very well, but she was responsible for finding the Core last year and was severely injured because of it. Still, it should be obvious that the Newcomer Killer - or the people helping or mimicking them - isn't likely to stop anytime soon. I can tell you that it's highly suspected that it's more than one person doing this. I can't say if it's two, three, or a whole group, but it doesn't matter. No one should be out without some sort of friend or escort these days, especially in the late afternoon as it gets darker earlier and earlier. I don't care if you think you're strong enough or capable enough to handle what might be out there: if you go out without some sort of help and you are attacked, you are, unfortunately, likely to die.
Don't put yourself in that sort of situation. If you have to walk to school or work, consider public transportation, carpooling, or a buddy system. I'd be especially careful at the subway when you're entering and leaving. In the crowd, you can easily be dragged away without others noticing if you aren't mindful of your surroundings. If you think you can't make it home before it gets too dark for conditions to be safe, go stay with a friend or stay at an all-night club of some sort. Do not underestimate who or what might be out there.
Yes, this sounds like a scare tactic. I don't care. If you value yourself and the people you care about, you'll take the extra precautions.
