Yes, your eye won't grow back magically, but the hospital doesn't want to keep you there forever. Once they judge you're capable of walking down a hall without walking into a wall, they'll let you go.

A lot, actually. I've just never been blind in one. They would rather have the bedspace, I'm sure. They're not trying to keep you prisoner. They want to get you well enough to leave.
