[The video swings unsteadily about the familiar backdrop of the baseball diamond for a moment. Accompanying it is a voice; low and even and very much not amused.]

Next time you design a simulation, do me a favor and make it less of a dump.

[Otacon is just that kind of guy. And as much as his gut rebels against it, it's possible Liquid is telling the truth. (Joining Philanthropy, living under the same roof as Big Boss and Master Miller. Otacon trusted Liquid with his life. How the hell had all that come about?)]

That doesn't mean everyone needs to know it. As long as you're my targets, Kadaj won't kill you. And believe me, he could. He could probably kill me if he was serious about it.

[A pause.]

It wasn't the grudge that led me to try to kill you. Not really. There were... other factors. But it doesn't matter. For now, I'm not your enemy. Who knows what the future might bring? Perhaps some day I'll grow sick of playing the good little boy. Perhaps not.

[And if they weren't enemies then what did that make them? Allies, maybe, though he still doesn't trust him very far. (It's true, old enemies can become allies all the time, and vice versa. But this is Liquid.) Certainly not brothers, not in any sense but the genetic.]
