[Light looks far more composed today than he has in months, if a little tired. His hair has grown out a little as a result of not having gone to get it cut. A tidy stack of books sits on the desk in front of him, and his eyes are fixed on the NV where he's set it up on the table in front of him. Everything about this scene is perfectly constructed, the bright window at Light's back that casts his features into shadow and obscures the darkness about his eyes, the neat way his room is tidied with the bed made behind him and the books arranged carefully on the bookshelf in the other corner. Even his suit - black over a black shirt with a dark red tie - is meticulously clean and tidy.]

In every war the true casualties are those who were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. As a group, I would like to impress upon you that we are in the wrong place, and this may well be the wrong time.

If it is the Core that is underneath the baseball field and not something else entirely - no, if it is even believed that it is the Core - then that will be enough to disrupt life about the city and draw attention straight to the field itself as the news has clearly documented already. So many deaths, and how long have we known about it? It is only a matter of time until that outrage turns on us. I think we've all experienced enough hatred from the residents here to know that being the focus of the city's attention is hardly the best thing for us. They want us to go home: what's to stop them locking us down there with the Core until we either starve, suffocate, or do what we're told?

The message of hatred will inevitably become clearer over time, and I suggest that you all respond with patience and caution. We are unwelcome guests here, whether we wish to be here or not, and violence begets violence.

[Light has his own problems, but he's not discussing them, this will be clear enough to anyone who knows what's been happening the last few days. To those who have watched him slowly crumbling this sudden determination and collectedness may seem almost eerie. That's the effect it's supposed to have.

He reaches forward across the desk and switches to a private, unhackable channel, addressing Miles Edgeworth, Mello and Near.]

I regret to inform you that L is dead, whether or not you were aware of his return in the first place. As you know, he was my friend, regardless of my being his suspect. I'm afraid that following certain incidents of last week I cannot tell you where his body lies, I'm only sorry that I couldn't see him put to rest properly.

[And finally just to Near.]

This is the address for a warehouse. [The address is shown on a piece of paper, written in shorthand Japanese with the numbers 1-5 taking the place of vowels. This he presents to the camera for three seconds only. ] Choose a time convenient to you and I will see you there.
