[It's been two days and Ocelot hasn't come back yet. Liquid's voice is controlled but held a faint note of rage and worry in the back of it.]
When people die here, they either come back or disappear. Has anyone experienced "coming back" as taking a while? Or is it usually a short wait?
[Otacon came back in twelve hours, dammit, why isn't Ocelot back yet, why why why-
Those words keep echoing in his mind. Ocelot sounded so damn final.]
...if you're back, come home. [I'm not angry...] You know who you are, dammit. I'm not angry about your stupidly getting killed.
[Oh yes he was. But he was more worried than anything. Ocelot had been his ally - and his subordinate - since the day he came here. He wouldn't have batted an eyelid at his death at Shadow Moses but that was because that was war, even if it was just FOXHOUND and the Genome Army against the Patriots and Snake. Somehow, it was more jarring that he'd died in such a pathetic manner. More so because Ocelot was young, too young to be faced with that, dammit. Although that was a laugh. Liquid's first kill had been at the age of thirteen years of age. There was no too young when death and war was concerned, and Liquid had seen enough death to not care in the majority of situations. But dammit, Ocelot was his. Ocelot had been there the entire time he had, always within reach. Liquid didn't really know what to do. Some of that concern was probably leaking into his voice but he hardly noticed. Or perhaps he did, because irritation tinged his next words. Liquid was a master of repressing feelings, after all.]
...goddammit, that's another police report to file. Bloody bureaucracies.
