Who: Axel and YOU! (Open log)
When: Sunday night
Where: Starting at Axel's apartment in Sector 9 and moving out into the city
Summary: Axel prowls the city at night. COME SAY HELLO
Warnings: Idk, Darkness violence?
((ooc note: Axel's starting out in Sector 9 but thanks to dark corridors (i.e. the Organization portal thingies) he can be anywhere in the city at any time, so feel free to meet him wherever you like; just say where they're located in your subject line or tag or whatever. Also don't mind the tl;dr, tags will be shorter.))
The cat explored the apartment, poking its black nose into every corner and nook as it made the rounds. From his bed Axel watched her idly, leaning back against the wall with one leg drawn up and the other casually stretched out, an elbow resting on his knee. There was a vague twinge of something close to irritation, a feeling of intrusion on the order he'd just started to make of his new lease on life. He hadn't planned for a cat--well, any more than he'd planned to still be alive, or planned to find himself in a world he had never heard of in his life, surrounded by people he'd never expected to see again. But he wasn't about to kick the thing out.
Axel leaned his head in his hand and addressed the animal. "Why would he give you to me, anyway?"
She sat and regarded him with her head cocked to one side, as though it were considering the question.
His lips twitched. It amused him a little that the cat was all black. A proper Organization pet. Axel turned to gaze out the window, the sun sinking below unfamiliar rooftops and turning the sky the same orangey gold he remembered from Twilight Town. The sight made him restless. Some things here were too familiar--faces, scenery. Things like that could lull you into a false sense of security. Maybe he should have been happy to be alive again--if he could have felt happiness, of course. But it only made him twitchy, like somebody was playing a trick, trying to make him vulnerable; what was worse was that it was working. First the fight with Roxas, and then their talks, and the truth coming out. And now this cat. He shouldn't even have taken her. He hadn't even thought about what it might mean to get close again.
Out there somewhere, someone or something was behind his presence in this world. The itching feeling in his shoulderblades told him there was a reason he was alive, and innocuous or not he'd better find out what it was fast. Oh, he would settle in like he'd never thought of doing anything else. Say hello to the landlady, get to know the neighbors. Stay out of the way of the people who knew him, except maybe Roxas... But he would never let his guard down.
He was alive again. He didn't intend to squander the opportunity.
Axel pushed himself away from the wall abruptly, and up off the bed. Night was falling--the time was right to go out and do a little investigating, or at least fight some monsters. The cat meowed at him as he strode by, and he paused on the way to the door, glancing down at her with a grin.
"Nah, not yet. You're too new to be my partner. We'll have to see how we go together first, won't we?" He leaned down and offered her a hand, which she came over to sniff right away. "But I'm sure you'll work out just fine."
She had needed a name. Just like any brand-new Nobody.
"See you later, Winner," he assured her, and left.
