He's a sea change in policy, he gives us credibility overseas and he just broke a glass ceiling which is being embraced by people of color. So, while you can call is business as usual, there are exceptions of note.

I fully understand the exceptions of note, some of which I am happy for. I am glad that he broke the glass ceiling. I just don't see the "three months until the world is a shiny happy place again" that everyone keeps touting. He has helped America's credibility overseas immensely, but I don't see the blink-of-an-eye change. Sure, him being a Democrat and heavily distanced from W gives him a hell of a lot more credibility in the globe, but I don't see the tsunami hitting the world and making it all better. I see him as a change in policy, but I don't see it as a "sea change." America is in a quagmire that is going to take a long time to get out of, and he's the first stepping stone to change. Call me skeptical, but I don't see him as the great savior of America that everyone seems to be making him out to be.

While I'm happy that Obama was elected and hopeful he'll be able to make some positive changes, it took us a long time to get into the deep mess we're in, we're not going to get out of it overnight.
