Lack of Windows 64bit support

Seriously. I have XP 64 on my main system at home (ok, stop laughing) because I have 4gb of RAM and don't want to make my Athlon X2 into a K6 by running Vista. Anyway, I've recently decided that it would be a good idea to move my music creation stuff from my old desktop to the new one. The old one just really can't keep up any more and starts ( Read more... )

Wow, so today, I found out just how bad non ASIO drivers are.. At 90msec delay, my sound card still couldn't keep up with real time f/x. And 90msec is so much lag that it's unusable.

Pitiful x64 Driver Support anonymous October 3 2009, 23:08:36 UTC
I agree that the audio manufacturers total lack of development for their products is utterly ridiculous unless another agenda is being served here. Do yo remember that during the rollout of both XP and Vista that certain peripherals like printers and web cams were arbitrarily allowed to become obsolete for no other reason than the manufacturers decide to do so. Seems like the same scenario all over again except it's the issue of providing support for x64. The excuse from companies like Logitech and Behringer is that they see no significant movement to those OS'es to justify the R&D for 64 bit OSes.

They should release the driver source code into the public domain and the problem would cure itself within a fortnight. I'm sick and tired of purchasing peripherals that are perfectly functioning that become obsoleted because of marketing decisions. I've got enough of those electronic bricks to last a lifetime.
