Oh, he knew that it was a human custom, and only human boys were really supposed to give her a gift but…
Hawkmon fretted over the wrapping on the sweater he’d knitted for his Chosen partner. It was made using the left over materials they’d purchased for Mimi and Palmon’s gifts, and to be honest there was still more than enough left over for more things to be made.
When Miyako had shown Hawkmon how to crochet and knit, or rather, had shown him the book on how to do it, he’d taken to it with great ease. Maybe it was the fact that he could use his own claws as the needles just fine while Miyako had trouble holding them properly.
In any case, he’d seen this White day go by for many years and never commented on it since it seemed silly and he wanted no part in that! But…
He stuffed the soft package under the pillow in his basket bed as Miyako came back into her bedroom looking pretty beat.
Human relationships weren’t on the top of his things to experience, if Miyako’s were any indication of how stressful they could be. He didn’t see why they did those things. The Chosen children had their Digimon partners for life, so it was difficult to understand the need for one more, or two, or three.
Hawkmon sighed as he poked the package. Would she take offence? He’d never celebrated it before, but considering how gentlemanly he claimed to be he realized this was something he lacked. He couldn’t count how many times Miyako had brought him little gifts, treats, or other such things.
Nodding to himself, Hawkmon decided to just leave the gift right where it was and then put it on her desk when she fell asleep.
“Hey Hawkmon,” Miyako smiled and sat on her bed Indian style. He felt suitably cowed for hiding the present from her already and she’d only said his name!
The feathered digimon smiled and helped her get to bed and settle her book bag but inside he frowned. Maybe it wasn’t right to give her a gift this day considering the trouble the others had caused.
Hawkmon nodded firmly to himself as he settled into his own bed feeling the present under his pillow. He’d leave the present for a rainy day.
He sighed and closed his blue eyes, snuggling in.
Cheering up Miyako was so much easier when other boys weren’t around!
