Well. Yesterday my ipod gave up the ghost...shifted off this mortal coil....expired.....went to meet it's maker....popped it's clogs...basically it broke. It's completely knackered. Now it's been around about 13 months since mky parents bought it, so I went into Currys whose ipod specialist type told me ( Read more... )

Same thing is happening to me with my shitty computer, I called the Compaq support asses, and this guy asked me when I had bought the computer, and ironically I called on the same day my guarantee expired (August 2nd), he almost didn't help me at all!!! However in the end he did, he told me to do some stuff to my computer, and it is now working again, but yeah techies are assholes, fight for your rights! LOL :P

God, I hate stuff like that!!

Over here, most things have like 24 months of guarantee, which is really nice! but yeah, that doesn't help you at all!

*Snuggles*

Good luck with that!! And... if they keep on resisting your "charms"bitching I hope they fall face first into dog shit, right after leaving the house, on every single day, until they replace your iPod!

yup - i can tell you exactly which bit of the trading standards law you want to look at if you want. If you can prove that the product itself was faulty, through no fault of your own, then it's classed a "unsuitable for the purpose it was sold for". I can look it up if you want.

How..er...strange.

Anyway, Apple has a bit of a track record with things like that. They build really great stuff that looks the business, but then they clap out relatively soon and they cost much more to repair than they do to just buy a new one.

My 'net connection is very slow otherwise I'd try and hunt down this article I found written on a geeky 'net 'zine called "Who designed this crap?" It's by an apparently very well respected designer and what he does is lay into what he sees as the general stupidity/incompetence/deliberate bastardness that he sees around him.

I only remember the title, as above, so maybe you could look it up? He did a bit about the IPod, and how they constantlytry an get you to "upgrade"-apparently it's anice little moneyspnner of a racket they've got going on.

Hey lawyer guy, if you have a mo' could you pony over to my lj. I am having problems with my laptop and want a refund. I just want to know how far I can legally go to secure the refund, becuase, obviously, no-one ever wants to give someone a refund.

Siri, the column to which I referred:
http://tomshardware.co.uk/2006/08/09/who_designed_this_crap_uk/

But I can't find te thing he did on laptops (which I red sometime in June).

BTW, Siri, did you ever visit geri when she was in France? I am just wondering if ever we met.
