Time to celebrate the end of my vacation. It was good, even if it was of course too short ;) I've been playing like crazy with Photoshop but my interest these days lies much with some French movies I've seen recently so I don't think many of you will be interested too. Anyway, here's a first post about two actors and three movies.
Like many people, I often go to see a movie because I appreciate one or more of the actors playing in. This one was no different. One of the French actors I really like is Albert Dupontel. He's believable in every role I've seen him and he's got a great sense of humour (though I tried to watch Bernie and the humour was lost on me because of the violence, so I didn't watch it entirely). He was one of the only redeeming feature of
Irréversible apart from Monica Bellucci's beauty. He's also a script writer and a movie director. He recently released his newest film, Enfermés dehors, in which he also stars. Read this very good review of
Locked out if you want to know more about it and understand what the wall's about.
q_spade, this is the "busy wall" I told you about ;) The movie is very cartoon-ish and totally restless, and I wanted to convey this feeling in the wall. In my opinion I succeeded but it may not be very likeable for other people. And
lilsan01 if you wander here, as you said you were interested in the wall, have you seen the movie finally ? I don't know what I'd say, funnily stupid, or stupidly funny ;) I'd certainly say it's "complètement déjanté !" ;D
I had already seen Dupontel recently in another movie I told you about a few weeks ago,
Fauteuils d'orchestre. In this, he plays a famous pianist who's tired of his life spent from a concert to another concert. The wallpaper is not only about him but about most of the characters that cross each others path during three days in a street of Paris. Nice movie, and as I said last time it's also with one of my old crushes, Christopher Thompson (co-script writer of the film) that you can see in the second wallpaper, which seems very weak compared to the other one ;) Textures from
Gloria and Innamoramento.
Now as far as I'm concerned, Dupontel's best role is in Un long dimanche de fiançailles (A very long engagement). There he played the part of Célestin Poux (which means lice), a "poilu", a French WWI soldier (I explained the movie a bit
here). The film is full of flashback so that you see what the men and women of the story were doing before the war. It's shot in warm tones when "normal" life is shown, but the main colouring becomes much colder when we're in the trenches, surrounded by death, and it goes with the blue of the uniforms. I was already playing with that in the wall and the splendid texture from Gloria I added made it even clearer.
I hope you like this wall, as I think it may be the best I've ever made.
Last tidbit of information about Albert Dupontel. I was reading
his blog and found this comment he made in answer to a question someone asked him : "Trainspotting ? unbridled, funny, moving, well done and a discovery full of genius... Ewan McGregor !" Told you he's a great guy ;)
Hope you're not tired of the French stuff already, because there's more to come in another post in a few days ;D Oh and look, I've finally figured what went wrong with my moodtheme when LJ hiccupped all those months ago and it's back online !!
