Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday Season!

Dec 22, 2007 15:36

I just checked and it's been March since I posted!  I really am still alive and following all your lives.  I had no idea that being the mom of three older kids could make me busier than being the mom to three todlers.  When I got into this whole fandom thing my kids were 7, 4, and 1.  Now they are 14, 11, and 8.  I wrote reams and reams of ( Read more... )

Yay, great to hear from you!

I was a saxophone player in marching band (and symphonic band) for all of middle and high school ---- I get goosebumps too! You are not the only band nerd. :) I'm glad your oldest son has had that experience; it's terrific for kids. What does he play?

I was not pleased to hear your report that a mom's life only gets busier. I was thinking that maybe when Harry is in kindergarten ...... in 2.5 years, but maybe not so much?

Brian is a trumpet player. They tend to be the egotistical Band Nerds, but so far it hasn't gone to his head. His friends complain that he has it easy because they play much heavier instruments (except the clainet player).

As for busier ... I think its a function of the trio and the full time job. Its also more managerial and less custodial. While I'm not dressing, and feeding, and tying shoelaces, I am overseeing homework, running here and there and trying to anticipate problems, decisions, and consequences. But at the same time you get more comfortable about your instincts, so ... you'll be fine.

I got your card and your kids are growing up so fast! I guess they all do, but ... We're just getting our card together. Hopefully it will go out by the first of the year :)

I am also amazed by how much fandom stuff I could get done while my kid was a toddler that I can't get done now. I only have one and it's insane. Something new pops up every single day.

I know ... where are those hours now??? Where is the creative mental energy???? Most of the time I feel like there just isn't room in my brain for creative space. I have a tendancy towards the analytical, but there for awhile, there seemed to be great expanses devoted to creation in my brain ... now its vanished...sigh....it's taken up by figuring out who wants what for when :)

I've been following your trials and tribulations. I hope Fort Meyers is treating you a bit better. I get down to Punta Gorda occassionally (Arcadia more frequently) and think of you. Hope you have a great Holiday. Did I read that your Husband is working out of town? How long will that be for? I did that for 3 week stretches when my kids were really little ... it can be hard, but surprisingly freeing... good luck...

I think for me, when he was little, I needed an escape from all that toddler stuff. My brain could only take so many episodes of Blue's Clues and I needed a creative outlet. Now he's pretty much a creative outlet all by himself.

Yep, my husband is up in Memphis doing a contract job. Since he started in August, he was home once in October and will be home next weekend. He's feeling free... that's for sure! I could use a week away!

Glad to know you're alive, am wibbling over the news that we'll have even LESS free time as the kids get older, and yay for Gilmore Girls! (I've been following along since S2.) Have a wonderful holiday - hope you get a chance to breathe a little bit.

Don't wibble too much. I think a lot of it is a function of trying to hold down a job that requires 40 hour a week. I do so wish I could go back to the 20-25 that I was doing when my kids were younger. Another function is the span of ages and the fact thet there are three of them. Its just one too many to keep track of. I think I'd have it easy with two (although I wouldn't know it if I hadn't had the three experience).

You are doing GREAT with your two. Trust your instincts. Hope you have a great time in CA. It sure beats PA this time of year. :)

Hey there!! You too ... I've been keeping up with your move and your trials and tribulations. Is London everything you thought it would be? Do you miss Australia? Have you kept in touch with Ebony? I got a christmas card from her, but no news...

London is very different to what I'm used to, and I do miss Oz very much. I'm not entirely sure I like living over here, but will stick it out for now.

I made several attempts to stay in touch with Ebony, but she felt the need to cut me and a lot of other people out of her life, so in the end I gave up trying. I haven't spoken to her for a very long time and don't imagine I ever will again.

Hey there! I've been following all your job woes and successes. I think I gathered you're in Boston now? Are you liking it? I think I would have enjoyed Massachusetts better if I had been closer to the city. We were out in the Provinces (Uxbridge ... between Worcester and Providence) and it was just not for us. Hope you're enjoying it and Have a happy Christmas.
