Lily's hair is tangled now, wrapped around her sweaty hands. Sirius touches her arm, stroking the round curve of her elbow.
She took his place. Sirius rubs his hands dry and closes her eyelids, delicate skin yielding to his touch.
James lies behind him. Sirius can't turn - there's no place for him next to James, all rigid flesh and frozen bones.
He had tangled his fingers in James's hair, had stroked the curve of his arm and pressed butterfly kisses on his eyelids.
He belongs with Lily. Sirius can't go to James now, can't lay him out next to her.
