Because free information and art sources are cool,
http://libraryphoto.er.usgs.gov/

It is a collection of public domain photographs from usgs in 100, 700, and 1400 dpi.

Hey,

You seem pretty interesting--I like the way you look at things. Glad to see you're updating your journal again. I'm adding you--K?

p.s. Have you found some good resources on where to find out where clothing textiles etc. come from?

I think the hierarchies.org project has a lot of potential, but there needs to be more activity in updating the database.

For the past several weeks my recreational computer use has been entirely passive (not writing email, etc.) because of much work and migraines. Otherwise I would have replied earlier.

In reciprocity I will add you as well. My search for textile origins hasn't yielded any new information but a fresh perspective and effort awaits me when I'm less busy.

I had not seen hierarchies.org. The need for a system like that has been apparent to me for years. However, their implementation has some issues that bother me. One is that Kraft has no parent even though Altria has Kraft as a child.

The other issue is that this system seems to rely on user input, which requires user knowledge of the world of corporate structure and the details of the members of that world. SEC filings and other databases would help keep that information current I think.
