Oh. Just ... no words. Wonderful balance of the past and present, and heartbreaking references to the future. And the title! Love that poem so much...

Thank you! As far as I'm concerned, that poem could have been written for Sirius's last moments in the DoM. And I'm glad you liked the balance between past and present, because I had an awful time trying to work in references to the past without slowing down the pace too much.

Oh God, I am bawling my eyes out. I just couldn't stop reading it and it's almost like having post-traumatic stress disorder, having to live through this battle again. Damn Rowling for killing him off. I like how you wrote it from his perspective, adding it bits from the previous battle. And, though it was incredibly heart-breaking, I really liked how the flashbacks during those last few moments all had to do with Harry. Okay, gotta go and dry my eyes now. Thanks for posting this!

Sorry :). I didn't quite mean to write about Sirius's death, but the fic just came out this way.

I'm very glad you liked it, anyway!

Very good, love. I have to admit that it's a bit lame to read an action piece a second time, but it still gripped me and made me read faster than usually. I'm impressed by how you managed to weave the references into the storyline -- that was no easy feat, I'm sure.

but he'd learned his duelling skills from Bellatrix herself; as a teenager she had never scrupled to attack her younger cousins, and he knew her habits inside out.

Perfect! :)

I'm glad that bit about Bella worked for you! And thanks again for all your suggestions; they were much appreciated :). *hugs*

Oh God that rush of memories at the end is just too painful. And I love how Sirius has absolutely no idea that this is the end for him. It's another chapter in his life, it's excitement and nostalgia and then... that's it.

Gorgeous stuff. :)

Thank you! Part of me is glad that JKR gave Sirius one last outing in OotP - I love the image of him laughing at Bella, feeling alive again. Of course, she then went and killed him...sob.

But I'm glad the ending worked, as that part all came out in a bit of a rush. Thanks for reading!

This was an amazing fic. I mean, seriously, amazing. But the mention of Regulus--omg. Stunning.
