Home was a nice, comfy place. Home was not overbearing. Home was safe, quiet, and always welcoming, no matter what I did or said.
Or what I became.
When my magic kicked in, home was changed. Dad was upset. Mom was looking at me sadly. She knew rejection was headed my way, and she couldn’t stop it.
But everything changed when that letter came. My family burst with happiness. They thought I wouldn’t make it in- but I did.
Home was home again.
And as soon as it was back to normal- I was leaving it.
I was leaving home.
