He was mercurial, and Remus blamed it on the house. A month-long dry spell in the fall, where Sirius seemed interested only in Remus's weekly grocery deliveries; then frenzied fumbling in the hall closet before the meeting, the kids' footfalls overhead echoing in the dusty room. A confrontation with Snape left Sirius muttering all night long, until Remus shut him up the only way that always worked. Soon the house was empty and silent again, and Remus eagerly awaited the end of term, the day the house would be full and Sirius would once more have kisses to steal.
