So in rushes Remus, pulling your sorry arse out of the kitchen, you moron, before he takes your place in it. He finds the pan lid and snuffs out the fire that way, turning off the stove. Yeah, he's going to have really sore hands after this, but that's better than burning the flat down

Get a shirt or jacket and douse it in water. Hurry!

[Sirius nods and runs to the bathroom to get a shirt wet. Without really thinking, he pulls his own shirt over his head and puts it under the sink and gets it wet. Once it is soaked, he comes running back into the kitchen, shirtless and wet shirt in hand.]

Dirt, dump a good amount over it, water tends to cause kitchen fires to spread.

Outside, unless of course you've none around due to it being covered by cement. Potted plants have been sacrificed as well.

On very short hand there's a lightly dampened large bit of fabric, otherwise any access water will cause what isn't immediately covered to spread into smaller fires.
