I spent quite some time researching the internet to see what it is about this song that people enjoy. It's number one on iTunes so I figured it's hitting the culture somehow. I agree, though not all secular music is harmful to our faith in Christ (in and of itself) it may be destracting us from growing closer to God just by being part of our every-day thoughts.

Agreed. I know this is a touchy subject, so I'll be careful. What I see is the youth grabbing up all the secular music they can get their hands on. I believe part of this is the desire to identify with your culture and therefore each other. It's a common "language" for your youth culture. It sets you apart from other generations and I know that is a phenomenon of growing up in this culture. It's been that way for a long time ( ... )
