So I got a question for all you techies? We're looking at getting a new computer, but with my limited knowledge of computers I don't know which one to get. We are only looking for a tower since we have several extra monitors and the like and I do not want a portable. Its mostly going to be used for games and internet. Any ideas.

For the simplicity of not really having to build a machine plus the cost factor, I've never been disappointed in any of the Dell machines I've owned. Granted, the last one I purchased was my laptop, and that was over two years ago now.

Dell's also pretty good if you have any way to use the employee partner purchasing by either seeing if your employer has a login, or finding a login to "borrow" off the 'net. When I bought my laptop, it actually saved me money off the final cost to buy the extended 3 year plus warranty due to the specials that were being applied.

Not a techie but I am a computer whore, I second and third Joy's assessment of Dells, also if you can get in on their employee partner purchase webpage like she suggested, check out their 'clearance' merchandise as well. Many times people order a computer, get it in and the tower is scratched, dented, or they just 'cancel' the order after its already built and not shipped, and ends up going very cheap.

We just recently got a new gamer computer for Tommy and got the 3 year extended warranty and it is well worth it, the couple of things that have messed up they came out and replaced them free and we financed it which made it easier to get what he wanted.

As long as you ensure that it DOES NOT HAVE onboard video. This way you can upgrade the video card in the future.
