Its hard to admit to ourselves, much less someone else, when our bodies fail us in some major way. Hang in there...it will get easier. Don't isolate yourself - we miss you.

First of all it is your life, primarily that is changed by this, so it is your choice, even though those of us that love you are somewhat affected by your decision. However, as far as your appearance being changed, and people being judged by your appearance, i have to sort of kind of almost agree with some of what subonfire said. Those of us who are not strangers already know you're hot, and we want to see you and hug you and squish into your boobies, and if you can hear us because of those things we barely notice, (even if you see them as a neon sign) and be an active and important part of our lives again, well, that's a bonus. I wish I knew what to say to this :( Being one that is completely wrapped up in my appearance to others - I understand your feelings in looking "different". However, haven't they made leaps and bounds with hearing aids - I thought they were tiny, barely visible devices now?

I'm glad that you're taking a step, finding a turning point in your life. It helps to take some of the control back, doesn't it? Makes things look less hopeless.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you and the best possible results.
