Stupid Meniere's

Oct 29, 2008 10:49

Or maybe not. But I went in this morning for the audiogram, and you have to answer these questions before they do it and it turns out that if you have symptoms of Meniere's, they don't do the hearing test without clearance from your doctor. So I wasn't able to have the test, and the earliest the doctor could reschedule me for was Tuesday, the 4th ( Read more... )

Knit me hearing aid cozies :) Then maybe I can think of them as fun lol.

Speaking of which, anytime you want me to sign to you while (or instead of) talking, you have only to ask. I try not to unless people ask, because some people get to feeling odd about it, but it's always available.

Consider it done. Sim-com (simultaneous communication) is really hard, because you're literally thinking in two languages at once, so bear with me, but just seeing more of it will help engage your visual sense and help cement the memories better, which should help with the learning. Ask if you want to know a sign, by the way, and if I don't know it, we'll look it up and learn together, and I can always ask my teacher about local differences (there are you know, like accents).

Hi.. glad to hear you're moving things along. And pleased that you aren't mad at me too. Most people appreciate my blunt honesty, and take it in the spirit its intended, but occasionally people do take offence.

My feeling is that if I am to be a good friend to someone, the best I can do is offer them my very best thoughts, even if those thoughts are uncomfortable. I value that in others as well. I know this makes me unusual. Most prefer tact, seeing that as kindness.

I like my honesty tempered with kindness, though.

Very cool that you can get the test next week. Good luck.

I'm glad you checked in, too :)

I don't really think I'm ready to have big conversations right now ... I've finally agreed to all this and I'm enjoying everyone being off my back about it for a while.

The only hearing aid I feel really truly okay with is the open-canal BTE style ... I don't want to color coordinate, I don't want to draw attention to them if I can help it.

I'll keep this in mind though, thank you so much. *hugs*

*HUGS* Well, just know I am here any time you want to ask questions or anything.
There are two new hearing aids on the market which I think are pretty cool that fit down inside the middle of your ear and are very discrete. I can give you info about those if you are ever interested.
And in the regular open fit style, there are a TON of options, almost all the manufacturers have a type of hearing aid like that.

I'll try to keep checking in for updates once in a while to see how you're doing. I miss keeping up with everyone anyway.

I somehow missed this post and am glad I saw it. I've been wondering since I sent you an email why I never received a response, and worried that perhaps I said something to hurt, upset or anger you in my long and personal story. It's a possibility I noticed after I reread it, perhaps by not telling you all that you may have wanted to hear. Maybe I went too much into detail and bored or offended you.

It's possible I said too much. I didn't intend to go into so much detail, but once I started with the topic (which I try not to think about often), I couldn't stop. . .
Or maybe I should wonder instead if you received it at all. . .

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. =)

I did receive it ... I'm not hurt or offended. I simply didn't know how to respond, at the time, and since then have been too busy to give it as much thought as I think that a proper response would require.

I can say, with truth, that I'm grateful that you shared it with me ... but as to anything else, I just feel conflicted in some ways, so in trying to sort all that out for myself, it's not really something I can write for someone else.

Thanks :)
