I have heard Diamond Comics Distributors also runs on this model, often sending retailers memories of what proper shipments are like.

.

The tree has no significance. What?

And before I saw the text below the cartoon, I was googling "hold box."

"that small handful of customers who still enjoy their favorite characters' adventures"

I stopped following CHARACTERS before I was out of my teens.

But I continued to enjoy new work in THE MEDIUM for twenty years beyond that, until the day came when stuff I liked became too much work to find.

Now, the dissonance between my values and the world-view of most comics writers is something I just don't care to bother with.

Even Archie has intruded homosexuality into its world of innocent fun.

A takeoff on The Giving Tree, a Shel Silverstein children's book from '64.

You and I stopped following characters long ago (though I'll probably drag myself to the new Conan movie in spite of everything), but I reckon most of the comics market is readers who follow characters.
