Bring on the heavy artillary

I knew that voting against my conscience would bite me in the ass one day. That day has arrived. I've always been a third party loyalist because I believe that both parties are one in the same. More proof in that Kerry (our man..*pshh*) is a coward and would concede before an official count. This is the guy I want running my country...a quiter. ( Read more... )

It shows concern for change. Now, to do something about it is a different story all together.

Playing out the game-theory, a nationwide election for one single executive post has to come down to two parties, that just the numbers game.
Its in the local government and the congressional elections that multiple parties make a difference.
Our government runs on compromise, throwing in with one of the big parties is the only way to really influence the presidency, unless a third party candidate takes a tremendous chunk out of both the previous parties. But that kind of de-stabilization is highly unlikley at the preseidential level.
A third party could become a force in cogress though. THen eventualy they could allign themselves with one of the big two to influence the presidential agenda.

I think its time for a new way of thinking outside of the 2 party system. I see destabilizing occuring within the 2 party system, right now. We live in such a diverse society that I pity the majority of people that think one party represents thier core beliefs. I see hope only after the country goes in the shit hole and we are forced to rebuild from the ground up.

I'm pretty sure most people in other countries can distinguish the difference between the American people and those in charge of the government apparatus.

The one thing I heard a lot about today was "the 2000 debacle", with Gore fighting for the recount. One woman said that Kerry's concession "goes a long way toward my having respect for the Democrats again" (this is a paraphrase, but a trustworthy one).

It's like: opt for a recount and you're smeared as an opportunist out to wreck the system. Don't, and horribly disappoint as many people as you mollify. Either way you lose :P

But you know ? If the situation'd been reversed in either election...I'm sure Bush would've gone for a recount. The Republicans seem to me to believe that they're entitled to run the country their way. And damned be any inconvenient laws, people, or realities opposing them.

And yeah - I remembered the watchword of the 2000 election too: "bipartisanship". Seriously. How long did it take for Dubya to chuck that out the window ?

Yeah, with so much in-fighting within the democratic party, It is difficult for me to take them seriously.

At least with the republicans I know what they stand for and can easily dissect thier ideology. Watching FOX news will give ya a good idea.
