First-- I love OhWendy's picture posted. I marvel at the books and cats and think.....that's not such a bad life. (mixed with the emotion of there really are "crazy cat men" not just ladies)
Second--Tues. night a client brought in 3 kitties that she was fostering. Waiting for them to weigh 2 lbs and be old enough for the adoption process. They were so adorable that I could hardly keep away from them even with the itchy throat and sniffles. ADORABLE. In SD, it's a real issue with coyotes and hawks that nab cats if allowed outdoors-- anything like that in Portland neighborhoods? (I know it's considered healthier if they're all indoor....but......) I don't know how you have gone this long without being a new Dad again.
Portland is as safe as a city gets for outdoor cats, and there are a ton of friendly neighbor cats that hang out along my street, but I still wouldn't do it. Cars, raccoons, and FIV are just some of the dangers.
