what bothers me are the "real" contestants who make it to the final rounds and still sound awful in English.

The trick is if they do have a feel for the melody of the words. Then they will get the necessary coaching to shed the ugly phonetic duckling ).

why not do that before auditioning? this is the second year, right?
though i can't say much. i didn't outgrow my own ugly ducklingness until after high school...harhar.
