but honestly I feel like studios rely WAY to heavily on CGI lately and the result for me is that it feels MORE fake and unreal and not less.

That's how I felt about the AIW trailer, honestly. :/ Like "what the hell is that?" It's so faaaake.

I wanted to see the queen of hearts as a person not a CGI bobblehead doll but IDK maybe that's what he's doing on purpose? I remember reading up on Burton's Willy Wonka adaptation and he intentionally used very little CGI and most things seen in that movie are man made sets and props, not computer generated so unless his views about filmaking have changed radically since that time I think whatever CGI used here is most likely intentional and meant to add to his vision in some way, I just hope I feel that when I actually see the film cause I have alot of high hopes for this. dont let me down burty!

Mmmm, Alice. . . I'm not sure how I feel about the CGI thing, though. I guess we'll see when it comes out?

Yeah I'm trying to remain optimistic for now, especially since the last few burton films i've seen were good and enjoyable. I'm ok with it even if it's not perfect I just dont want it to suck. and with so many awesome people associated with this film I have high hopes that it will be decent enough in the end. *crosses fingers*

I'm really upset about Alice, actually. I think it looks like a video game. Tim is one of my all time favourite directors, even since childhood but I think lately he has become extremely overexposed and so has JD. I want them both to take a break and come back in five years.

BAHAHAH, I think I've watched the ancient Roma episode 3x already. XD

I totally see how it resembles a video game in some ways, I mean the sets look gorgeous but there is way more CGI in it than I would have liked. which is weird especially cause there was so little cgi in his willy wonka film. I mean even the oompa loompa's werent computer generated, rather every oompa loompa was shot separately and then edited together to be in one scene. it was very involved. I think the only notably CGI thing in the film (aside from the effects like violet turning into a blueberry) was the chocolate waterfall.

I think I'd be sad if I saw no J depp for five years! I got used to see him every other year already lol.

huh? I could be wrong but I reeally didn''t think that Where the Wild Things are is CG. It definitely looked more like mascot costumes to me for the most part, and my friends agreed.

I agree with the sentiment on CG though, I kind of was ":/" about the look of allll the CG in Alice, I'd have prefered a more realistic texture to the film. As I said to my friend, I would have liked to see what he'd have done with it, say, in the late 80's or more in the style he was doing with his Batman films, instead of quite as bright and cartoonish as this is. :P
