Favorite song playing on the radio

It has come to my attention that some people (hi, Mom!) are annoyed at me for not posting on LJ in the last...six months. Oops. So here's kind of sketch of how I'm doing, now that I'm getting enough sleep.

In list format, because narrative coherency is really asking too much )

Checks are THE DEVIL. I see people in line pull out checkbooks and I immediately call for backup at the reg. They're pretty much inconvenience incarnate.

Redheads are descended from Neanderthals, not just Cro Magnons or whatever the rest of humanity comes from. Trufax. Redheads are also most prominent in Ireland because of inbreeding, a widely known fact which John tried to argue with me over.

Oreo balls and cream cheese brownies sound amazing. I'm also dying with joy every time I see American food, so... there's that.

we went into an alternate timeline and got to dive-bomb Redcoats in a flying rowboat while my character magicked "Ride of the Valkyries" out of the airSomeone has been reading too much Dresden Files :P ( ... )

I seriously need to read up on redheads, because the Neanderthal thing sounds really cool and I have no idea how that would work. (Also, pssh, the redheads breed with the other redheads on an island and voila, redheads. Common sense much, dude?)

American food is great, and I need to actually sit down and make the Oreo balls for the delicious calorie jolt.

The song was a group suggestion, but we all read too much Dresden Files, so...yes. ^_^

Language classes are serious business; I have no idea how you juggled Japanese with everything else.

No hurry on presents, and I'm glad you're home safe.

Yay! A nice long newsy Laura post. The blood spatter story make me want to careen into Chapel Hill on two wheels, bearing Neosporin and Bandaids. But I'm sure it waas fun to freak out the boys:-) Re old prople: take deep breaths and remember these people lived most of their lives in the era before debit cards. And some of them are probably trying to avoid big Visa bills. I can't explain the elevator thing. Right now, the plan is to get to Chapel Hill Friday night. We will have ALL DAY Saturday on the Hill (Double Yay!) We will Leave for the OBX Sunday morning. It is HOT here. And HUMID. And miserable. I am looking forward to the ocean breezes.

I'm trying to be good about posting a little more, and don't worry about the blood. Knuckles are surprisingly durable and they're nicely scabbed over now.

I do take deep breaths to deal with them, but it takes forever and seriously, there are ATMs all over campus that would save us time and energy.

I'll plan to hang out on Friday night depending on when you get in; if you want I can poke around and try to make reservations somewhere for Saturday night.

Don't worry, it's hot here too. Why is spring so pretty here and summer so terrible?

I feel a little sorry for them, but I'm really hoping that they stop coming in during my shift and taking forever. :-P

I just finished the book, which pulls in some studies to suggest that the gene emerged during the Neanderthal period but isn't necessarily from the Neanderthals themselves; I may start doing more research. It would be nice to know why my hair suddenly went more red in college.

Thank you!
