January stuff

Jan 31, 2007 21:27

I don't post much, but for some reason I feel strange if I miss a month. It doesn't make any sense, but gin told me to post more anyway. Here's a list of some of the stuff I've done this month.

Lars updated! :D

I kinda hate Faulkner a lot. We can turn his corpse over to Shodan and let him have his way with it.

I love you.

Shodan is the only bear imaginative enough to invent the mauling Faulkner deserves. Was the man on drugs or did someone just tell him that all the cool kids ignored literary conventions?

The Sound and the Fury sucks a lot; when I tried to read it I made it a sixth of the way through the book, realized there was still no discernible plot, and gave it up in disgust.

RE comics: <3 dinosaur comics

I'm about halfway through and the plot has yet to emerge, but apparently one of Caddy's brothers wants to bone her. What the heck is Faulkner's problem?
Yeah, I read Dinosaur Comics once in a while. They're fun, but not quite my favorite.

~hooray for books! I get paid tomorrow = new books for me :D
~Honestly, I like Faulkner ^^;; Sound and the Fury was kinda frustrating, but I was using a friend's copy (with margin notes all over it) and my English teacher is a goddess. These might have influenced my opinion.
~I got a choice from my parents senior year: CloseUp or Scotland. I still feel bad that I've never been to DC though :(
~MAKE WITH THE 'APPLYING TO LSU' ALREADY

I approve of this dialogue.

~That's on what I tend to spend allowance; once in while I'll get a CD or a fun t-shirt, but books dominate.
~My teacher is reading the book along with us and doesn't really understand it. He's a great guy, but Faulkner is insane. The entire class is writhing in literary hell.
~I would have chosen Scotland too. CloseUp was great, though; visit Washington in the spring sometime if you ever get the chance. The weather was miserable during the trip, but the spring break DC trip my family took two years ago was cool because it was fairly warm and the cherry trees were blooming.
~The deadline isn't for a while, so I still have time to decide. I might apply just for the heck of it if the required essays don't suck too much.
The whole class approved of the dialogue; every once in a while Canney pulls off a really good quip.

I applied to LSU Honors College and completely didn't do the required essays. At all. They gave me a full scholarship ^^;;

I was in a play two years ago where my character adored The Sound and the Fury so I decided that I should give it a shot. Yes, Faulkner should have dastardly things done to him.

Props for having the guts to try, but Neko appears to be the only person in the known world who doesn't want to desecrate Faulkner's corpse. I like scene transitions too much to really enjoy off-the-wall narratives.
